Flood Relief Work at Tangi Charsada (KPK)

On 26th September 2010 SCR team went on second phase of relief work at Gulabad Tehsil Tangi Charsadda. Tangi is a town and union council of Charsadda District in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is one of eight towns in Hashtnagar and is located at 34°18'0N 71°39'14E with an altitude of 327 meters (1076 feet) lying to the north-west of the district capital - Charsadda.

The area is surrounded by River Sawat, River Kabul and River Jindi. These areas are the best pear and Japanese fruit producing areas in Pakistan.

In the second phase of relief work the strategy was changed as per the prior survey report of the flood affected areas. It was reported that now they are in need of cash for rehabilitation work. SCR distributed clothes and cash amounting to PKR 3,000 among 150 families. Disbursements were made at the door steps of flood victims. Different means of transportation were used to reach in those areas where flood victims were not entertained properly and there is still shortage of relief work.

Horse cart (Tonga), Motorcycle three wheeler (Rickshaw), Vans were used to reach at the spots. 

 It was reported by local resources that in these areas more than 150 families are homeless and living in camps. They do not have anything with them as the worst flooding has washed away their homes in the night and they just saved their lives & children.  Their all possessions were floated with water. Some of them also lost their loved ones in this killing flooding.SCR team also did survey for future rehabilitation program. The homeless people are in need of warm clothes, Shawls’, Blankets, and cash for reconstruction of their homes. There is also need of drinking water and for this SCR team gave recommendations for water hand pump project to be implemented near future. Dear friends there are still great need for uplifting the destroyed communities. SCR is soon initiating “Safe Drinking Water” project in this area.This will give life protection of children and their parents. Do join hands in this noble life saving program.
