Water for Life

WATER FOR LIFE
It is great gift for a Family, a school, Business and Church, In memory of loved ones to donate a Water
hand pump for a flood victim family

The devastating flood in Pakistan had destroyed more than half of the economy of the country. The country which was already facing several other crises including terrorism, poverty, corruption, illiteracy  has now hit by another challenge in the form of flood. At this crucial time, the world has pledge to help Pakistan in any form.

About 1,500 people have died in the disaster and more than 7.9 million acres (3.2 million hectares) of cotton, sugar cane and wheat crops destroyed.

Pakistan hasn’t seen floods of this ferocity for nearly a century. The impact has been devastating with more than 1500 deaths over several days, all over Pakistan, out of which over a thousand people killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone. According to UN, 20 million people have been affected by these floods so far.

Hundreds of villages have been swept away in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, while Sindh, which has so little water in its waterways for a number of years, is now bracing itself for a major deluge. Millions of refugees who have left their flooded, and severely damaged homes, now live in tents made of plastic and sheets. Villages weren’t the only places destroyed- some major cities, dams and bridges have also been ruined.
Goal:

Prevention from water borne diseases by provision of clean drinking water to 150 flood affected families through installing 150 water hand pumps at their homes.
Objective

1.      To provide clean drinking water to flood affected families.
2.      To prevent these families from water borne health diseases.
3.      To provide them clean and hygienic environment.

Project Impact

The benefits of this project would provide positive impact to suffer families is astounding. The women and children would no longer fetch water from distant areas, and those who can not help themselves to that reach are using local polluted water which is causing gastritis, skin diseases. The number of children suffering from water borne diseases would be reduced and the general hygiene of the families would improve
Water obtained from these hand water pumps would not only for domestic use but could be used for small kitchen gardens and for livestock as well.

  1. When we went on flood relief work in northern areas, it was really a tragic scene to visit those places. We saw the people drinking polluted water from ponds. Then we planned a small project to provide them safe drinking water and wrote a project proposal and send to different funding agencies. After many days we did not get any positive response except donation of two hand pumps. one from Sister Lindsey Dennis from UK and Other from A person who did not allow us to show his name.
We designed flyers and sent in USA and Germany; We were happy that people joining us to accomplish this project and hoping to complete this project before the expected end date.
Unfortunately after passing so many days we were not able to have more donations for this sacred project. We started worry about this and struggling more hard to achieve this Goal.
We are still struggling for this project as we know there is still need of safe drinking water. We can not forget the faces of those children who were drinking polluted water from the ponds
